I wrote this for Josh when he first got sick.
He framed it and kept it on his desk until
he died. I buried it with him, close to his heart.

My dearest Son,

Last night while you were sleeping
I sat quietly beside your bed
Minutes turned into hours
Until morning wasn't far ahead

I sat there in silence
And I gently touched your face
I wanted to give you security
Hold you in my embrace

I wish that I could rock you
In my arms just one last time
I wish that I could sing you to sleep
With a beautiful lullaby

I know you think you’re all grown up
And perhaps you’re wiser than your years
But age knows not a mothers love
It only adds to her tears

I quietly left your room
As the sunrise had already began
But before I closed the door, I whispered in your ear
Your mother’s proud of you young man.

I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU MY SON
YOUR MOM
