NO CHRISTMAS THIS YEAR

Where once there was laughter
Excitement and cheer
There will be no Christmas
At my house this year

In the corner where our tree once was
Is now a table with a picture of you
No glittering lights or packages with bows
No Christmas pictures will I do

No aroma from the kitchen
No holiday delights
No Christmas carols
Late at night

No stockings will hang
Where they did before
No Santa wreath
To place on the door

No driving around
To see the Christmas scenes
It’s all gone from my heart
What once was me

Christmas will be just another day
As far as I’m concerned
I have no Christmas wishes
Except my son to return

I will go away
To a place you once knew
I will spend Christmas
With memories of you

My Son's Christmas Grave

Quietly I'm remembering you
In the silence of my heart.
Each thought of you, a treasure
While we are now apart.

At times I'm filled with longing;
Your face I'd love to see,
To feel your warmth, to hear your voice,
To have you here with me.

But God has a plan; He created you
And numbered all your days.
May he hold you in His loving arms
And surround me with His grace.

With the hope of reunion in Heaven one day,
I entrust you in His care.
Cherished memories of you live on in my heart.
Your life is a gift we share.

CHRISTMAS 2006

Christmas is finally over
It wasn't easy by far
The first Christmas without you
Lay heavily on my heart

Your grave was lit with decorations
A stocking, bells, angels and a glass tree,
So beautiful to the eye it was
I only pray that you did see

I brought you little presents
Laid them on your grave
None of them compare
To the gift that you once gave
That was the gift of joy
You brought to all that you knew
An unselfish gift of love
Everyone received from you

We should all be so bountiful
As to give the gift of love
For material things are not forever
And won’t be had from above

If you felt me at your grave
And saw the things I did leave
It was really my love
I left for you to receive
