Life use to be different
Not perfect, but was ok
In that life I had three sons
I have only two today

How does a Mother adjust
To one third of her heart gone?
One third of her soul empty,
How does she go on?

How does she find peace?
How does she even begin?
Its almost like a journey,
Once taken, never come back again

That leaves her in a bitter place
A place that few have shared
A place of unbelonging
Somewhere bewteen here and there

Is this the way to heaven?
Or is this the way to hell?
She's lost bewteen the two
She's confused and can not tell

Along her journey she may find
A casual pat on the back or two
People who are not lost
But don't know what to do

This a burden only she can carry
And she must carry it alone
For it was a piece of Her
That Jesus carried home

There are ones along her way
With pills and pep talks about being sad
But that can't find her way back
Not to the life that she once had

That life is forever gone
No matter how her soul grieves
It'll never return to her
With her son's of three

Along that journney
She may see many roads to take
But they all come back here
Back to this very bitter place

So she keeps moving in circles
Around and around she goes
She just keeps on moving
Where it ends nobody knows

The Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
